HOW TO BUY ART FOR CHILDREN
Recently I had a client contact me and ask if I had any painting or prints relevant for children, it got me thinking about what to consider when investing in art for a child.
IS IT APPROPRIATE?
I think it is important to purchase art that reflects something that your child is interested in. I recently painted a Rooster for my son Alfie, he loves Roosters like other kids like cats and dogs! We stayed in a bamboo house in Ubud in Bali with chickens and a Rooster in the garden when he was a baby . He has loved them ever since. He is very territorial about 'my Rooster painting mum'.
Will it continue to be relevant?
Art is more than a picture hanging on your child's bedroom wall. When purchasing art for children, think beyond their current bedroom interior and choose something that stimulates their imagination but is also appealing to an adult, a work of art that your child can bring with them over the years from their first flat to their 'grown up' home. It is wonderful to invest in something that your son or daughter can cherish as an adult, creating a lasting memory of childhood.
