This painting reflects the elegant facade of The Fullerton Hotel, located on Fullerton Road, Singapore. Formerly the Singapore Post Office building, it was also used as a hospital during the war. In this painting Clare used 130 vintage stamps; many have the postal frank mark from going through the postal system when the hotel was still post office and depict Singapore as part of Malaya. Showing the British ER red pillar box and the palms and tropical plants of Singapore highlights the history and heritage of this East-meets-West colonial hotel.
