Fortnum & Mason Store - ORIGINAL PAINTING

£7,500.00 GBP

Fortnum and Masons store at 181 Piccadilly was established in 1707 by William Fortnum & Hugh Mason.

Founded as a grocery store, Fortnum's reputation was built on supplying quality food, and saw rapid growth throughout the Victorian era stocking exotic, speciality and also 'basic' provisions to the Royal Household, the British Troops & Society events such as Henley Regatta and Ascot Races.

The store claims to have invented the Scotch egg as a picnic food for travellers in 1738 and in 1886 were the first store to stock a new product by a H.J. Heinz - Baked Beans.

Fortnum's is a luxury store famous for its decadent high teas, speciality hampers, glamorous food hall and those stunning design-led window displays. Its products are all beautifully packaged and are sent around the globe as quintessentially English gifts. Fortnums is London's purveyor of Fine Foods to the Royal Family to this day and its beautifully packaged foods are a delight to buy and to gift.

Clare’s artwork of the stunning Piccadilly store includes the famous clock above its lavish Food Hall entrance. A typical day draws Fortnum's Shoppers, window gazers and London tourists who can be spotted alongside the impeccably suited Fortnum's Doorman.
