Oriental Lillies in a Japanese Bowl -ORIGINAL DRAWING on Paper
£499.00 GBP
I love lilies they are so unashamedly expressive of their beauty and these stunning pink Oriental Lillies have an amazing scent that has filled my studio. I paired them with the Japanese bowl I purchased when i was doing my British Flowers from the Garden series for Artists Support Pledge.
In Greek mythology, pink lilies are associated with the goddess Hera, who was the queen of the gods and the goddess of marriage and childbirth. According to the legend, when Hera gave birth to her son Hercules, drops of her milk fell to the ground and transformed into beautiful pink lilies. These flowers were believed to symbolize the purity and divine nature of motherhood.
The pink lily’s connection to Hera also represents femininity and motherhood in Greek culture. The flower’s elegant and graceful appearance reflects the qualities traditionally attributed to women, such as beauty, grace, and nurturing. In Chinese Culture Pink Lllies represent Prosperity & Abundance. Apart from the symbolism they are all about beauty and love and harmony.
