The Sky was so blue and I loved my view of the Whitstable Yacht club and the gorgeous stretch of beach divided up by the wooden Groynes that sweep down to the water.
Landscape Artist of the Year is a competition of 8 main artists who are set up in pods plus 50 Wild Card Artists that have a chance to be seen and selected by the judges painting 'En Plein Air ' their given view.........and there is just 4 hours to paint the view ( well there was slightly longer but not much longer - filming is a tricky business ). It was so unusually hot in the afternoon we had to rig up an umbrella on my easel to act as a parasol to shade against the direct sun view of the afternoon whilst painting with adrenaline against the clock!

On what must have been the most sunny & scorchio day of last year I arrived in Whitstable at 7am as one of 50 Wild Card Artists selected by Sky Arts to paint the beautiful Harbour of Whitstable, a seaside town on the North Coast of Kent, England famous for its 'native oysters' !

I am so happy with this piece and it has inspired me to think of painting more seaside English towns, there is something very charming and well......very English about them! You can view all the episodes of the Programme on Sky Arts!
