Clare's Esplanade painting shows the symbol of Singapore: The Merlion looking out across to the Theatres on the Bay, a performing Art Centre with a vibrant program of activities. Singaporeans refer to it as the Durian Building because of its rounded shape and spiky texture likening it to the pungent smelling Durian fruit. Clare worked on this Mixed Media piece with silver leaf on the Esplanade to represent the reflective and textural quality of the architecture.
