Singapore Shophouses - Author Rosie Milne, Singapore
'I have the Singapore Shophouses and I LOVE it ! - Rosie Milne, Singapore
I met British Author Rosie Milne in Singapore when she visited my exhibition 'Postcard from Singapore' hosted by The American Club Singapore. Rosie interviewed me about the large-scale paintings I had created in my Singapore Landmarks collection inspired by the stunning and eclectic architecture in the city, from the heritage conservation shophouses to the modern architecture at the marina such as Marina Bay Sands.
Rosie is British and like me has a love of Asia, especially Singapore. She has written about the time of Sir Stamford Raffles in her book Olivia and Sophie. Rosie selected my Singapore Shophouses limited edition print which is of the charming coloured shophouses at Blair Road in Singapore's Tanjong Pagar district, a charming reflection of Singapore's past. These houses were former dwellings of the spice merchants. The Terrace houses along Blair Road built in the 1920s have an eclectic mix of Chinese, Malay and European Design Styles.
Rosie Milne is a freelance writer and author of How To Change Your Life and Holding the Baby (Pan Macmillan). Milne writes for Asian Books Blog, The Daily Telegraph and Asian Review of Books, and divides her time between London and Singapore.
