May Studio Update

It's a new month and in The Surrey Hills in England where I am based at the moment we are embracing any short sunny moment and hoping for more as the heatwave is yet to appear.

Thankfully now there are longer and brighter days for painting in the studio, and I have decided to enter this year's famous Royal Academy Summer Exhibition!

The theme for the 2021 September show (later than usual) is 'Reclaiming Magic' and I feel inspired to create something I have had in mind since I spent a lot of time in Ubud Bali around festival time, the energy there is ...well MAGICAL. This year there are up to 30,000 entries to the Summer Exhibition so I need a bit of magic on my side but there is always a possibility, right?

I have been playing with the 'Letting Go' energy this month, all part of this shift of consciousness we are going through on the planet and working out where my time and energy is best placed to serve me, my creativity and others. One of the issues I always have as a creative is - 'more ideas than time' but I am learning to let some come and go and allow what feels like the most aligned projects to bubble to the top and manifest.

I have cleared and tidied my studio, smudged the space and invited in the best energy for my solo painting week next week, when my daughter and super studio assistant Scarlett is away notching up some sailing hours off the South Coast.

Over the last couple of weeks we have been photographing the new FLOWERS TEA TOWELS which I am so happy to have created as I have wanted to print on fabric for a long time, we have had fun working out different ways to style them and I have had some hilarious moments standing on a table balancing precariously around all the props for National Tea Day to get the perfect flat lay shots.

In Singapore, where I used to live, May onwards is the time when Ex-pats in Singapore start preparing to leave or to say goodbye to friends and colleagues. I am always amazed to see my growing collection of the Little Red Dot's most famous landmarks connecting people to their memories and friends. Today a print of Raffles Hotel is winging its way to Auckland, New Zealand.

And finally I am happy to share that my painting of St Ives in Cornwall, a popular holiday destination and hub for the artist community, raised £415 for Cornwall Mind Mental Health, there were many bidders and TOGETHER we created something so positive, as support around mental Health can change or even save a life. Thank you for sharing, following my posts and for bidding if you did as the final buyer is a mystery collector.

Thank you for supporting my Art Journey !
YOUR SUPPORT IS SO APPRECIATED !
