Sammie and Nathan visited my studio open day after seeing my exhibition of Singapore Landmarks at The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore. They felt connected to this painting of the Shophouses at Blair Road exude the Singapore heritage style with the tropical front gardens and intricate Peranakan details.
"We chose this picture because we love the shophouses in Singapore as they are an iconic image of old Singapore. We had been looking for a painting that we will be able to take with us when we move on from Singapore and the “Shophouses’ painting will serve as a wonderful memoir of our time here. We visited Clare’s Studio on an Open Day and although we had seen photographs of the painting we hadn’t appreciated the mixed media work that was part of the process of producing it, really bringing the Shophouses to life."
